The Webinar will have a brief historical reference to Mexico's trade relationship with the United States from 1820 to 1950 and from 1942 to date. It is important to understand it as it can help to better understand the rise of offshoring in Mexico and its future prospects. It addresses the emergence of nearshoring in Mexico, as well as the factors that currently drive nearshoring in the country. SWOT elements for offshoring in Mexico will be identified. Some of them are relevant so that Nearshoring can connect with future objectives and ambitions. The structural opportunities and challenges of a nearshoring that aspires to be a driver of sustainable development will also be addressed, where governments, companies, academia and civil society play a fundamental role. Its relationship with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the ESG Agenda, the T-MEC and its Chapter 24 associated with the Environment.
